Execution of those strategies, however, is key to successful change. miv Technologies has many years of experience implementing MES and SCADA solutions using a wide variety of tools. We have our favorite tools, but our clients' needs, experience, and budget are the most important factors when choosing a path forward. We have delivered strategic solutions in the areas of downtime/OEE, recipe management, and product tracking. We can also quickly implement more traditional SCADA solutions including informative operator control interfaces, highly-scalable data collection, and sophisticated alarm notification and dispatching.

Downtime / OEE
The management of a best-in-class, Fortune 500 manufacturing company needed ideas for increasing capacity. Investigation into their processes indicated that they had plenty of capacity but too much downtime. We were able to quickly set up automatic downtime/OEE data collection using the client's existing tools. Areas for improvement were immediately recognized and the system has since been expanded to include informational marquees, data analysis tools, and configuration utilities. Since implementation, this client has recognized nearly 10% improvement in OEE.
Recipe Management
Recipes come in a variety of forms and make it possible to deliver the highest quality product in a repeatable manner. With several clients, each with very different products and processes, we have developed and implemented recipe management systems that provide version management, audit controls, and the ability to compare as-built or as-processed conditions in real-time with recipe tolerances. At least one of our clients has used our system as a key component of their ISO registration. Our highly scalable recipe management methodology currently manages many thousands of recipes across a variety of industries.
Product Tracking
As facilities become larger and more complex, finding products or components can become a time consuming effort. When a client was struggling to efficiently bring together components from many areas of their facility to their final assembly area, we utilized the client's existing barcode scanning technology and built a system that tracks major components as they are produced and move through the facility. Visualization aids help supervisors quickly find components. Data from this system is fed back to the client's global order management system and is utilized by the local OEE system we also delivered.

We have experience with a wide range of MES, SCADA, and database platforms. Some tools are easier to work with than others, but it is more important to pick the right type of tool (hammer vs wrench) than the right brand of tool. The experience of your solution provider will have the largest impact on the success of the project.
